Comments

  1. The infinite scroll at www.littleshreds.nl doesn’t seem to work, as it doesn’t load any more articles.

    A quick search through these comments told me that it might be a problem with WP3.9 and it’s probably been fixed in the new files. However, I’ve made a lot of changes to the theme, so I don’t want to restore to the parent theme. Could you perhaps tell me what code to change to fix the issue?

    Thanks so much!

  2. Hi

    Downlaod the latest version, try to copy the following files from the new version to your current folder.

    - functions.php
    - jquery.masonry.min.js

    Override the old files. Don’t forget backup the old files first.

    Thanks

  3. bought the theme and trying to upload it through the wordpress dashboard, but it gives me this message:

    The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

    help!

    ReplyDelete
  4. oh, got it to upload…

    but i looked at the documentation, but must be doing something wrong….the whole homepage area is blank. only the left side widget and logo area come up

    ReplyDelete
  5. got that fixed up too!

    now my only question is can the homepage fluid tiles just be from a certain category? or does it have to be just the most recent posts in all categories?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hi, you can set the masonry template for a specific category when you edit it in “posts > categories”, you will find the template option.

    Only the homepage shows the most recent posts.

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  7. thanks so much for getting back to me.

    I was actually hoping that the homepage could be set to just 1 or more categories and NOT be all the recent posts from all categories.

    is there a way to do that?

    also, i noticed a glitch/bug in the mobile version…when you have a long menu with many items, the site does not let you scroll down to access the lower items on the menu (at least on an iphone).

    otherwise, im loving the theme!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hi

    Unfortunately, there’s no the ready option for output the posts only from the specific categories. Only if you have to customize the source code (However, I’m sorry that we don’t provide the customization service.)

    For the second question, I remember I have added a scrollbar for the menu. Could you tell me your link? I will check it.

    Thanks

  9. Let’s try to add the following custom CSS into OldCar options > Custom code > CSS code

    .responsive-menu > ul{min-height:800px;max-height:100%;overflow:auto;overfolow-x:hidden;}

    Thanks

  10. Hi ThemeVan,

    Just a quick pre-purchase question. Does the theme support self hosted videos or does it only work with youtube, vimeo, etc. videos?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi

    If you want to self hosted the videos, you should also add the embed HTML code into the video field when you edit/add the post simply like below

    <video id="sampleMovie" src="yourvideo.mov" controls></video>

    For more HTML5 video player usage, you can search on google

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi and thank you for your response.

    I’ll use the flowplayer plugin and see how it goes. I have another question. I downloaded and installed the theme and also the child theme. I’d like to make the child theme look exactly like the original theme. How do I go about doing this? I’ve looked at the documentation and it doesn’t provide any info about child themes.

    Regards

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hi

    Just empty style.css file from child theme folder. Only retain the following part.

    /*
    Theme Name: OldCar Child Theme
    Theme URI: http://demo.themevan.com/oldcar
    Template:oldcar
    Description: A Light Style Child Theme of OldCar.
    Author: ThemeVan
    Author URI: http://www.themevan.com
    License: GNU General Public License and Themeforest general license
    License URI: License/README_License.txt
    Tags: two-columns,custom-colors,custom-menu,theme-options,translation-ready
    Version: 1.0
    */

    Making the child theme is customization work, there are many tutorials on google or you can also refer to the WordPress official instruction. http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  14. You can also create your own child theme.

  15. hi I would like to buy your theme, but first thought was wondering if an upgrade to version 4 Worpdress? and if the issue was compatible with Visual Composer?

    thanks so much

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi

    1. Yes, it’s compatible with WP 4.0 +
    2. Unfortunately, no, it’s not compatible with VC, all elements are based on the shortcode generator.

    Thank you!

  17. I installed the template and all is good. One problem tho is that the portfolio section (which is now the home page) does not open up page #2. I have 33 portfolio items and have set it to maximum at 21. When I click on pagination “2” it does not open the rest of the portfolio.

    Is there a way we can increase maximum portfolio count so there is no need for a pagination?

  18. Hi

  19. Hi, I found your theme and I’m really interested to use it for my new homepage. My question is, is it possible to embed Spotify so that I can see it as “featured” on the “home” section so that you (I) can press on the play button without clickin on the link to the single post? (Like video without featured image)

    Best regards

    LJ

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi

    If Spotify embed code is also using the iframe tag, I think yes, but maybe you need to make a little style adjustment in order to display the player more suitable, for example the width or height of the iframe.

    Thanks!

  21. Hi, thanks a lot, I purchased it and I’m very happy with it. But I’ve one question, I grabbed the chance and changed the width of the post(s), but what do I have to use to change also the width of the page(s)? I used this here for the posts in Custom CSS:

    /Standard/
    .post{width:700px;}

    /Notebook/
    @media all and (max-width: 1349px) {
    .post{width:600px;}
    }

    /Small screen or tablet/
    @media all and (max-width: 1023px) {
    .post{width:100%;}
    }

    /Mobile/
    @media all and (max-width: 480px) {
    .post{width:100%;}
    }

    Thanks and best regards

    LJ

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi

    You can try to change .post to .page, for example

    .post,
    .page{width:700px;}
    @media all and (max-width: 1349px) {
    .post,
    .page{width:600px;}
    }
    @media all and (max-width: 1023px) {
    .post,
    .page{width:100%;}
    }
    @media all and (max-width: 480px) {
    .post,
    .page{width:100%;}
    }

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is it possible to have other items pinned to the homepage besides posts? Like pages and social media feeds?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi

    Unfortunately, there’s no this feature in this blog theme. Only if you customize the home page file (index.php).

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay can you tell me how to customize?

    ReplyDelete
  26. It’s not easy to say it clearly, becase it’s depending on your detailed needs.

    I found some articles that you can refer to

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/display-content-of-a-specific-page-on-home-page

    http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-show-wordpress-pages-on-your-homepage/

    Generally, you should learn to use query_posts function to display the page on the homepage, and put your own HTML makeup in the while loop.

    By the way, so regrettably the big customization issue is not include the support.

Then I upload my own information.

    He had a part in a sample import’m already used design. I was installing a copy of the demo to WordPress. Is there such a real chance to

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hi

    You should install oldcar_v2.0.zip, this is the parent theme, then, import the sample date via “tools > import”, then your site will be as same as the demo.

    Oldcar_child_light.zip is only a child theme which depend on the parent theme, if you like the light style, you can install and active it.

    Btw. is there a way to automatically update Version 2 to 2.1?

    Thanks in advance!
    Thomas

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi

    We includes the changed files log in the changelogs.txt which is included in the theme folder.

    Automatic updates should work like a charm if you install Envato WordPress Toolkit plugin, the detail instructions here. https://github.com/envato/envato-wordpress-toolkit

    As always though, ensure you backup your site just in case.

    Thanks!

    I updated the theme, so first of all, you can reinstall the new version, then go to Posts > categories, edit the category, then you can add the description text there, add this category to the menu via Appearance > Menus.

    Thanks!
