I’d like to know if it’s possible to resize the content width but retain the featured image size

is it possible to use feature image smaller than default size? will it still show even if it’s small. I know some themes will not show featured image if the width is smaller than default

ReplyDeleteI wouldn’t recommend changing the widths. It affects so many things on the theme, and requires a lot of work to change completely.
Size of the featured image can be quite easily changed in the functions.php file.
Featured image will show even if it’s small.
Seems that the current version of this theme has broken columns. The main column and its content are stretched completely across both columns, as is the banner image. This wasn’t the case in the previous version.

ReplyDeleteHave you made any customization to the theme? If that’s the case, check that you are using proper classes and id’s in the CSS.
There were some changes from id’s to classes in the latest version, to make the theme more semantic and responsive.
Otherwise some badly coded plugin may cause problems. But as you can see from the demo site, there are no problems in the theme itself.

Thank you, you were right. I disabled some plug-ins and haven’t had any issues. I have a question though, is there a way to remove the post count icon from the “Latest Posts” widget in the sidebar? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt’s actually the comment count. You can hide it by adding this to the Custom CSS textarea in the Theme Options.

Hello, I’ve recently purchased this theme and I am really pleased with it, apart from one small thing… When you click on a category in the category sidebar widget, it displays all of the posts within that category in full. Is there any way to display perhaps just a few words…or even just the title headings? If not, the people who view each category are likely to have to do a lot of scrolling down amidst a mass of text for find a relevant post. Are you able to help me with this?

ReplyDeleteRecently I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting a LOT of spam messages through my contact form. Tried installing a captcha plugin but it doesn’t work with the integrated contact form for this theme.
I’ve also tried installing another contact plugin (Contact Form 7) and setting it as a default page, but not both contact forms show up on the page.
Any ideas how I can fix this issue?

Hello Michele,
ReplyDeleteI recommend using Contact Form 7. It allows you to customize the contact page as you like, and has a better spam protection.
You must use the default page template with the Contact Form 7, not the contact template. Otherwise there will be two contact forms on the page

ReplyDeleteSo tried it but no luck again. I first changed the contact page template to the “default page” and the contact form still shows up. You can see it here—> http://theedgecode.com/contact/. I left it that way so you can see it.
I’ve also checked it in multiple browsers to see it was a cache issue, but appears the same in both.
Any other ideas??

ReplyDeleteYou know, that’s really strange as the contact form of course shouldn’t appear on the default page template.
Maybe you could try to create a completely new page (with the default page template), and copy the content from your contact page there.

I just get a white blank screen when I try to load the Grunge theme. I emailed you the error msg but have not heard anything back, my hosting company said it’s a problem with the theme. It’s worked fine until last few weeks. Any suggestions on how to fix?

ReplyDeleteIt could be something to do with PHP compatibility of the theme, WordPress, Theme Options, or your server.
Best way to avoid problems is to have the latest versions of the theme, and WordPress installed.
Using the flckr gallery widget, is there a setting somewhere to make it open in a new window instead of the user leaving your page?

ReplyDeleteThe widget is using Flickr’s API to fetch the images, and it doesn’t have a setting for that.
You could add this to the scripts.js file to use jQuery to open images in new tab:
$(".flickr_badge_image a").attr('target','_blank');
Add the line before the “});” in the end of the file.

ReplyDeleteI purchased this theme some time ago. Never had any issues with it. As of the last couple of months or so, I noticed that when I publish a new post it does not get posted to my home page.
After much trial and error, with deactivating plugins, putting the post back into draft mode and republishing, etc., I noticed the only thing that work is when I change back to the default theme and then switch back again.
Someone had thought it may have been my WP Super Cache, but I’ve deactivated this plugin and I’m still getting the issue.
I’d rather not have to keep switching back and forth every time I post. Do you have any idea what may be causing this? My site is http://theedgecode.com.

ReplyDeleteThat’s really strange. Theme does not affect in any way if the post is published or not.
Cache could be causing these kind of problems. But you had it disabled, so I don’t know…
Do you have the latest version of the theme, and WordPress?
Wordpress yes. For the theme, i have version 1.0.2. I just checked. Looks like you’re on version 1.1.0. Does this mean I have to purchase again and upload? And will this override any changes that I’ve made? Thanks!

I really don’t believe that this problem is caused by the theme. Have you tried to clear the browser’s cache after publishing a new post?
I did, but it didn’t help. Some weird things happening. I just got a notice from Google. Looks like all my category pages are coming up as ‘Page not found.’ Ugh!

If it gets any wider the readability suffers, because the line length gets too long.

ReplyDelete1) Yes, with a couple lines of CSS into the Theme Options. I can help you with that.
2) It means that the theme is translatable.
This theme has not much to translate anyway, and using German language for WordPress dashboard automatically translates lots of the theme.
Rest of the theme can be easily translated using for example https://poedit.net/ It is really easy to use.
If you run into problems with the translation, I will help you

ReplyDeleteThere are no specific styling for BuddyPress or bbPress included, so you may have to do some customization by yourself.
You can use the theme only on one site with the regular licence.
Hello, I’m not sure if you can help with this but I’m trying to install Hello Bar onto my site. It says to add the code anywhere in the tag. I’ve tried adding it in the index.php and header.php with no luck. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

I love this theme. I just feel like the left-hand sidebar takes up too much room. I see there is an option to change the sidebar position. Do you have a demo with it on the right-hand side? That might feel better for me.
